Pros

Benefits are great. Excellent job for anyone new to automotive. No real extensive background check or drug test; felons will be in good company. If you can change oil and mount tires, you can probably work here. Oh, and there's no shortage of work to be done.

Cons

You'll spend a great deal of time directing tow truck drivers and receiving ordered parts; so don't worry about pesky things like repairs. You'll frequently be out of supplies, just do the best you can and try not to think about it too much. A toolbox with a stout lock is a great investment. You'll frequently find people poking through your tools for a screwdriver so if that bothers you (if you're experienced in the industry, it does), don't even apply. Customers will also amble into the shop from time to time for various reasons from repo's to tow truck drivers abandoning them outside.
