Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Resume Building Opportunities
Fantastic coworkers and middle management

Cons

Poor Pay
Company Too Big to Succeed
Inept Board
Middle Management hands tied

Advice to Management

Loosen the restraints on rewarding people for a job well done. Value the people who actually do the work and not just the presenters. Layoffs should be considered executive management failure and not company policy.

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Generally friendly work atmosphere, strong diversity

    Cons

Very poor career planning support, poor compensation (particularly variable + stock), extreme short sighted senior leadership decisions

    Advice to Management

Realize that you too were once like those who report to you, help them with greater clarity on goals, career plans, improve compensation structure

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fairly stable environment (safe the occasional massive 30k layoffs)
    Good health benefits
Possibility to stand out through quality work, and take ownership of projects.

    Cons

Very process oriented - too many cases of processes taking precedence over common sense.

This creates a fertile ground for office politics - much more than usual based on my experience.

No kitchen/office perks - absolutely nothing - water and coffee are the only guaranteed goodies you can expect, safe the occasional fruit basket and biz lunch left overs. Probably qualifies as the worst place ever when it comes to perks - almost comically tragique when compared to any other company of the bay area.

    Advice to Management

Forget the processes and politics for a moment, pay attention to insider suggestions and innovations.
    Get real about kitchen perks.
