I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Still some great minds involved in certain areas. HP has some great patents and inventions but too often are not able to capitalize on them

Cons

Constant cost-cutting. Management seemed to be floundering. Lower level employees living in constant fear of losing job. Many areas very under-staffed.

Advice to Management

Return to investing in the employees and get the best out of them once more

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    good computers at decent prices.

    Cons

horrible business practices. purchased EDS and failed on most of the accounts they aquired. announced that they were going to "branch off" their computers and printers....then screwed up the enterprise services devision, now they are eating crow.

    Advice to Management

grow the enterprise services and keep up with the bread and butter (your computers and printers) at the same time

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The co-workers worked hard to make a difference, and worked hard to keep a sane and fun team environment even with the turmoil in the C suite.

    Cons

Employees became disposable resources, managers were looking to protect themselves and staff were often the chips in the big game of corporate survival. Constant cuts to staff and budgets caused undue pressure for all, company embarked on a plan to cut costs, as a result most long term employees were forced out, even if they were top producers. Loyalty was often rewarded with a RIF notice.
