I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Fairly liberal time off and sick leave policies.

Cons

Working at HP is crazy. They talk people, but when you get a promotion, they don't give you the pay raise. There are no raises to speak of and the benefits really aren't that great. This makes it impossible to build a career at HP, because moving up does your family NO GOOD. The work is tedious, the internal systems are embarrassingly bad for an IT company and they are penny wise and pound foolish.

Advice to Management

Try living for a month on what you pay your supervisors, let alone your front line workers.

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There are opportunities within the company and good leaders/accounts.

    Cons

In order to get to other opportunities, you have to go through your current leadership who can hinder your ability to find other opportunities. Bad leaders run a slave ship, and any challenge or question results in you being labeled a negative team member, and then they separate you from group, target you, and then make your work life miserable.

    Advice to Management

Middle Management is where the issues are. To many layers of persons that are not really required trying to justify their positions. It reminds me of Office Space. I am on a team of four. I have a Team Lead, and two managers. Very ineffective if you ask me.

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Large company, anonimity, work from home, decent benefits, average pay

    Cons

Not the company it used to be, stripped away all of the benefits that used to make HP one of the best companies to work for, management is clueless, strategy changes every six months, no work life balance, no motivation to exceed expectations, no bonuses, no raises, no happy employees

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the entire board of directors, its the blind leading the blind. Remember that when you lose valuable employees wether through them quitting or you laying them off they are going to the competitors and will eventually become the final nail in HPs coffin.
