I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people - there are still talented people left.
The technology - there is still a lot of great technology to be found.
    Home office / flexible schedules.

    Cons

    - The employees aren't passionate about the company and HP isn't passionate about them. HP isn't sure what or who it is anymore. The soul is gone and people are demoralized. The "HP Way" is a dusty, distant concept remembered by only a dwindling minority.
    - Many talented people are leaving or have already left. Between the recent early retirement offering and the a general run for the exits, turnover is a big problem. With all those people goes the experience and innovative ideas needed to turn this company around.
    - Internal systems are a confusing mess.
    - If you love red tape and bureaucracy, you'll love HP.
    - Way too many products, SKU's and overlapping technologies.
    - Support and maintenance teams are off-shore and could care less about the customers.
    - HP isn't a single company. It's a group of companies poorly patched together without a clear vision or single purpose.
    - The next few years are going to be tumultuous to say the least. Be prepared for frequent reorgs and strategy changes.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to be everything to everyone. Get back to basics. Divest into logical companies: PC's/Printers, Software, Storage, Servers, etc. before this beast crumbles under it's own weight.
