I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Focus on product investment is creating opportunities. Enterprise services (formerly EDS) has benefitted from being able to cross-sell to current HP clients.

Cons

Poor management at all levels. Lack of career coaching and development. A very impersonal and unsupportive HR team. A very left-coast mentality/culture which is out of step with the overwhelming majority of employees at HP (the majority are remote for the company headquarters).

Advice to Management

Take a hard look at the front-line and mid-level managers in ES. With the upper leadership churn over the last several years, there are a large number of very poor leaders that are hiding and not being weeded out.

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Broad technology portfolio with access to incredible talent and raw material. Great opportunities to lead the move to the next generation of cloud computing with a focus on security, big data and mobility.

    Cons

Poor support of acquired and emerging BUs. HP has not built a platform for integrating acquired companies in the software area. All of the systems and processes are still optimized for hardware.

    Advice to Management

Create a greater sense of urgency. Leverage the executive talent from acquired companies.
