I worked at Hewlett-Packard as an intern (More than a year)

Pros

Flexible and welcoming working environment.
Interesting work with the some of the latest and most innovative products in the industry.

Cons

Due to recent changes in management and downsizing, it is difficult to switch career paths or even retain a position.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

    * HP has always attracted dedicated, creative, hard-working employees who believe in having a career, not just a job.
    * HP’s employees support and encourage each other, which is extraordinary, and makes people feel confident and happy to go to work.
    * The old "HP Way" still lingers in that employees feel free to take time off for family events, such as a kid’s soccer game.
    * Terrific medical benefits

    Cons

    * Because HP is so family-oriented, they get away with paying below market for many job categories.
    * Having acquired or merged with several large companies in the past 10 years has made the company too large to accomplish any coherent goals. With each acquisition the same G&A issues crop up and history repeats itself as new people try to figure out how to solve problems that were already solved.
    * There are too many layers of middle management, and when they decide to lay off people, they don’t seem to get rid of the unnecessary managers, just the workers who actually know how to do the jobs.
    * HP can't seem to get or keep a good CEO.
