I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Great variety of positions across skill levels, experience, capabilities and industries with an ability to transition after a year of positive contributions / outcomes

Cons

Long hours, high expectations by senior leaders can become disproportionate to compensation. Self directed career advancement requires constant management and internal networking & sponsorship.

Advice to Management

Top heavy management out of touch with service delivery ... Product lines are Too broad

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some of the most talented people in the industry work there. They pay well and they give bonuses at year end

    Cons

You are always worried about your job-there does not seem to be stability. I had 8 bosses in 3 years..impossible to move up the chain and promotion is very rare.

    Advice to Management

Stop changing direction of the organization so frequently. Even if you have a great plan..you do not stay with it long enough to realize it

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I'm hopeful that with Meg Ryan's leadership, HP is on its way back "up". The company is going in the right direction for the most part so far since the departure of the last CEO.

    Cons

The stock market price needs to show faster improvement. Hoping this will improve soon.

    Advice to Management

Continue with open and frequent communication with the employees on strategic plan. People care is IMPORTANT, and I believe HP has taken this seriously the past year based some changes implemented on benefits.
