I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

The best people in the industry to work with. Fantastic products a market leader even though the media doesn't seem to think so. Customers really like working with HP

Cons

Top management is all over the place. Lots of drama in the very upper ranks. Processes are difficult to work with. Major restructuring with lots of very experienced people leaving making it difficult to get things done

Advice to Management

Simplify processes. Upper management is still out of touch with individual contributors. Stop constantly changing sales comp plans and make quotas achievable. Pay at market, HP is lowest paying company in the tech industry for sales people

    Pros

    Work with little or no management in put, if willing to move opportunities to grow and move up and around the country. Online training but no classes most of the time.

    Cons

    No pay raises in last two years because of current cost cutting. Management to busy doing reports to focus on workers excepts for emergencies. It is just another big company with good benefits and good place to work. No longer exceptional.

    Pros

    flexible work schedule
    Lots of training material
    employees have ample tools to do their job

    Cons

    Limited Job growth - lots of downsizing and absorption of acquisitions.
    HP still searching for it market.
    Turnover in company is high due to mergers.
    Time tracking is redundant - have to post time in 3 time systems

    Advice to Management

    Find your Market ! stay the course of no new mergers until HP can manage what it has.
