I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Superb and very ethical work culture.
Proactive HR Dept.
Strict work life balance.
Frequent feedback from employees on leadership, work, career growth is collected and the grey areas are corrected in short span of time.
Internal Job movements highly encouraged.
Supportive and very encouraging managers.
Hikes given despite financial constraints.
Rewards and Recognitions for hard work, innovation and improvements.
Employee offers and rebates on HP products.

Cons

Salaries not up to mark when compared with smaller peers.
Some managers spoil overall work atmosphere.
Linguistic groupism.
Unnecessary push toward diversity initiatives.

Advice to Management

Please consider employee's total work experience and present performance at work and revise their salaries accordingly to market and inflation.
Strictly discourage linguistic groupism at work.
Do not encourage over ambitious (empty vessels with no business foresight) fairer sex members towards leadership positions under diversity initiatives as they spoil the work culture and bring in unethical practices and employee dissatisfaction. identify and train budding leaders irrespective of their gender.

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good Infra, nice people, good facilities.

    Cons

Worst Management for HPIT, management here is busy in eating the 70% of budget rest they give to the employees in the form of so called HIKE.

They Drive lavish cars and employee does not have money to buy a bicycle from their annul salary.

They Just Hypocrites crying about the budget all the time, but for them it is never a problem.

Moreover if you ask for hike they threaten to fire you and they actually did for a few people who were loyal to business working for more than 5 years.

No career growth, again big term hypocrisy, you work day and night to find a job and move internally and all of sudden a manager comes up and says he helped you to move out whereas in real time if you ask to help you, he will just say that he will mail and try to fix which he never does seriously.

How can he ? he is busy in watching you-tube and doing facebook time pass.

They are just paid to keep their people happy as they say but they are big time failure in that, do not know why they are even there in the company, their entire work is done by team leads including people management, they just come to download using company network and watch you tube, play TT and talk about each other.

    Advice to Management

DO SOME WORK AND WAKE UP, FIRE ALL THE MANAGERS FROM HPIT including Senior management.

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Contracting for HP provides you with a great opportunity to work alongside some highly talented technical specialists, and learn some additional skills to boost your future job prospects.
In my case, I have been fortunate to work alongside and for some incredibly knowledgeable and principled people, and would gladly recommend them to all and sundry.

    Cons

I can only speak from my experience on this account, but as with a lot of organisations, the desire to make money at seemingly all costs means that corners are cut and procedures get thrown out the window. Decisions often get overturned in 'corridor meetings' by senior management, and a general 'JFGID' attitude prevails.
Some of the technology used is end-of-life, and you will most likely require additional training before heading out for your next contract.
Permanent employees are mistreated by their line managers who don't actually meet them in person to discuss their future prospects and career development, and every year there is a large cull in staffing though-out the business.
Documentation is almost non-existent, new starters are pretty much left to fend for themselves, and it is incredibly rare for someone to have their contract cancelled due to ineptitude.

    Advice to Management

Where to start?! Take an actual interest in what your staff are doing, and try to employ people who are competent.
