Pros

Lots of Freedom, flexible timing, modern working style, no micro-management

Cons

Frequent downsizing, Compensation & Benefits are not too attractive

    I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    People friendly, pro-people policies & culture, look at employees from long term perspective, global exposure, practice of promotion and filling Internal Job Postings from within the organization, good people can move into different roles after every few years

    Cons

    HP is not doing well financially with very low margins & reducing revenues. Hence very low increments every year. People who join at lower grade or lower salary than what they deserve can get struck with very few promotions and cycle of low increments every year. Looks like it will continue to be this situations for many more years at least.

    Advice to Management

    If you don't give good increments to deserving existing people due to policy but hire from outside at higher salaries (because HR policy allows that), it will not benefit you.
