    Salary is un-even across different HP groups
    Salary for existing employees is low compared to industry in some groups
    Horizontal career movements are not easy across org
    HR needs to improve talent retention policies, current policies are failing or not being enforced.

    Workplace is dull needs to be more vibrant and energetic.
    Re-organization - select new managers carefully, see they have good people skills.
    Save good talent from leaving.
    Plan to Investment in R&D is only on paper. Cost cutting is high.

    Pros

    Its Legacy Reputation.
    Lots of good people trying to help it crawl out of a hole.

    Cons

    Lost its competitive edge even in the early 2000s when it was EDS.
    Was run through the last decade by people who did not understand the enterprise services environment and wanted to treat it like a product company only, which doesn't work.
    Gave the big competition, like IBM, the Indian companies and Accenture, a chance to make great progress.

    The answer through the last decade has been to try to cut costs to get to quarterly numbers. In a service company, that means cutting people. If you were in the wrong musical chair at the wrong time in the wrong business unit, you were gone. Performance didn't matter. HP would do whatever was most efficient.

    Advice to Management

    A services business is about people.
    Hire good people who are smart and understand how to service the customer and the model begins to work.
    Continue on your current path; and good people will continue to leave in droves.
    You have to find a way to become authenticly trust-worthy to your employees.
