I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Some great and hard working people. Training resources. Good benefits.

Cons

No career advancement, no overtime, no good tools, lots of layoffs. Management only cares about "their favorite team members" and not about the rest of the employees.

Lots of disrespect among team colleagues but management doesn't care.

Management sets poor examples of discipline (e.g. arrive late and leave early, watch internet, take training all day, aggressive attitude and language at all times).

Advice to Management

Start caring about all employees and less about your own agendas.

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I would have liked to listed several pros, but unfortunately all I can say is that it's better than unemployment.

    Cons

Salary Cuts, Massive Overtime without Compensation, The 'Open-Door' policy comes at the price of retaliation, No compensation for on-call, Retirement elimination and Workforce Reductions to a level that forces one employee to work as three. Rarely is a pay raise seen, and when it is seen, it doesn't even meet the annual increase in the cost of living, which effectively means that every year, you are making less money.

    Advice to Management

Since job satisfaction is impossible to achieve, the least that management can do is to support their employees by not trying to make things more difficult for them. However, the company's culture seems to be to 'crack the whip harder'. This style of management might work in the fast food industry (as it is designed to intimidate and make people feel like they are worthless and are lucky to even have the job they have), and you might even keep those with little experience, but when you are dealing with well trained professionals, eventually these professionals will wise up and find a job with a company where they are treated better.

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

A large company with many different places to work.

    Cons

Company has gone downhill significantly in the last decade.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to compete by paying the rank and file as little as possible.
