I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Dedicated fellow employees. When I first joined 10 years ago, it was a fantastic company. It was like a start-up in a big company.

Cons

Not hiring management who cannot execute. Too hierarchical. Lack of accountability at the top. To bureaucratic. The HP Way is gone. Open door policy does not really exist. Not the place for the young and creative nor the experienced and hands-on management. Very sad, given how much talent was once at HP. I'm so much more interested in start-ups now.

Advice to Management

Hire better management that look beyond the quarter. You get what you pay for when it comes to management, young talent, experience, etc ... Grow through innovation and bringing value to customers faster, not simply through cost cuts. Finally, morale is poor.

    Pros

    HP has a lot of good people and a strong history. Being a large company, there are many positions and divisions to grow your career.

    Cons

    In recent years HP has become more conservative when investing in growth and innovation. This tendency has caused HP lose it's leadership edge.

    Advice to Management

    Articulate a clear vision of the future and how the company will achieve it. When it comes to innovation, take more calculated risks to lead once again.

    Break down the walls between divisions! You've got good products and some great people; let them work foy you
