Pros

Good people to work with who know how the campany should be run. Flexibility in work schedules for work/life balance.

Cons

Lack of compassion for employees. Dollar is worth more than employees. Managment will cut whatever employee costs they can to ensure they get their bonus

Advice to Management

You have taken the comapny in a very bad direction. Short term costs savings are going to rob the long term rewards. The chance to redeem yourself is fast approaching. But the prediction is you will make more mistakes while not caring at all about the employee and you will do what it takes to make sure you get your bonus, even if you tank the comapny. Short term visions will only destroy the company. HP is opening the door, due to bad managemnt, to our competitors to take market share. Will HP be able to survive in the future? It all depends oncurrent managment, but employees have no faith in them and it may be too late.

    Pros

    Relaxed work environment
    Flex time
Decent benefits (401k, health insurance, etc)
Feel good factor about working for a big firm

    Cons

    Vague criteria defined for promotion
Salary increases are not linear with respect to individual performance
At time the employee tends to feel vitimized inspite of very good individual performance

    Advice to Management

Ensure that your top performers are kept happy (do not try to keep every employee happy irrespective of whether they are good performers are not for the sake of PR).

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Great name recognition - the company was a great starting point. There were a lot of people that had spent their entire working life there.

    Cons

Sometimes it was too big - too many layers of management at times made it tedious to get some projects completed.

    Advice to Management

So far things are too big to change quickly without possibly 'breaking' a lot of longstanding ingrained policies and procedures.
