I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Co-workers are a great bunch.
    Client is pretty good.
Some of the work is interesting.
It is a job in a tough economy.

    Cons

Cost-cutting is only strategy used by management.
Off-shoring is one of the favorite activities.
Constant reminders about how lucky we are to have a job in such a bad economy.
Process, procedures, and completing time accounting is most important.

    Advice to Management

It is a technical business you are in. Technology changes quickly. Employees need regular training in order to keep up. Most employees don't make enough to pay their own way for specialized training. It is in a company's interest to keep current employees up to date. You can't off-shore everything. Staffing only with cheap foreign labor is not the best strategy for building a motivated and loyal work force IMHO.

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Experience and knowledge, processes that work, friendly professional people, great place to learn and gain experience that are relevant and world class

    Cons

Market was challenging 2007 to 2010 which was my employment period, this was reflected in raise, benefits and morale of the team. Restructuring was the norm with no room for upward mobility.

    Advice to Management

It seems to be turning around in the right direction, great job.
