I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I have had excellent career opportunities with HP over more than a decade. I have had strong salary growth aligned with increases in scope of responsibility and several promotions. You can work anywhere and the breadth of jobs within the company is remarkable.

    Cons

Leadership has been fractured over the past decade and execution on vision has been mixed. Although vision and execution are rapidly improving, employees are paying the price with loss of flexibility, reduced benefits and perks and frozen salaries. Performance management is broken as they try to calibrate performance on a standard curve across a wide array of jobs, geographies and businesses. As the vision and execution continues to improve it will improve the experience for employees but in the interim employees are paying the price for years of mismanagement.

    Advice to Management

Continue to drive vision and discipline from the top while holding middle management accountable for execution. Look for ways to improve employee engagement and find a balance between managing the business and stomping on employee morale, freedom and creativity.
