I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Some on-line training, benefits are OK, as someone pointed better than unemployment.
Nice people to work with, though everyone seems to be lost in the bureaucracy and large inefficient systems.

Cons

Stuck in 90s, no energy in workforce, most people work here because they are stuck. nothing new to learn, not much opportunity to progress in career. Management values outside talent over existing employee. The cycle repeats, the new employee becomes old quick.

Advice to Management

invest in employee, invest in internal hp systems. Bring compensation to industry avg.

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I've always had amazing managers and leaders to follow. HP is like a choose your own adventure with opportunity for growth popping up all the time. I've been here for over 10 years now and I wouldn't want to work anywhere else right now. Meg and Bill V are doing amazing things and with their vision I see the turn around happening that they speak of.

    Cons

Middle management doesn't understand what its like on the streets and needs to get more in touch with what sales and pre-sales are facing on a daily basis. R&D is on the mend but still suffering from the Mark Hurd era of thrash R&D to save money.

    Advice to Management

Bring yourself down to the individual contributor level every once in a while to feel their pain and gain some understanding of what they are challenged with.
