Pros

Good work-life balance, Good salary.

Cons

No personal growth. They do not have enough projects for niche technologies. This is a place where management does not know which direction they are going and employees are too confused to. It is like sailing in a boat without reaching shore , an endless journey with no objective. When they cannot find projects they simply ask employee to walk away.

Advice to Management

My sincere advice to you is please do not hire when you dont have projects to place employees.

    I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Internal training opportunities are varied and cover a wide range of technical subjects. Up until recently they had great opportunities to work from home.

    Cons

    People care are one of the lower priorities of this company. Although you read in the paper how well the company has been doing or have beaten quarterly expectations - work force reductions continue to be the focus. Currently they are trying their best to lay off higher, more experienced professionals and replace them with entry level personnel. The environment is bad - people are constantly worried about their job - and with good reason.

    Advice to Management

    Consider there are more components to running a company than profits. If you have an environment that beats down the employee - the best will leave and mediocracy will end up ruling the day. Then there is the client side - again if you're only focused on $ the entry level resource is not going to be the business partner that the experienced resource is ... this is currently causing us to lose accounts all together.

    Pros

    HP has a great culture - people work hard, and really make a difference.

    Cons

    Only way to move up is to find a new job in the company - very few internal promotions

    Advice to Management

    focus on developing and promoting talent within the team rather than going out to other teams
