    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

I get to do great technical work and work with some really good and smart people. Work life balance is still appreciated by most people. It is really hard to beat locations like Vancouver, Corvallis, Ft. Collins, etc. if you hate long commutes and like outdoor stuff.

    Cons

Mark Hurd is cutting costs like there is no tomorrow. Literally. We are experiencing shutdowns (i.e., forced vacation time) in order to make quarterly numbers, lots of real-estate is being sold, and benefits are on a steady march downwards. He says he wants us to be an excellent company with excellent employees, but every month a new benefit cut is announced with the justification being that we were too far above industry averages.

    Advice to Management

Stop making engineers feel like they are just a cost waiting to be cut.

Current Employee - Account Manager in Washington, DC
    Approves of CEO

    Pros

    There's great company recognition
The benefits still slightly better than competitors
Large IT partnership gives you opportunities for limited training
There are opportunities for career advancement/career field if you are inclined to do so.

    Cons

There's a "race to the middle" regarding employee pay and benefits. They were close to being industry leading.
Lots of "required" training for consultants, but never a budget to get it to them. How is that possible in a 100 billion dollar company?
There seems to be a shift away from customer focus

    Advice to Management

It's still a great place to work, but some of the management structure needs to be replaced in order to re-focus on the customer.

There's no budget for required training.
