    Pros

The people within HP are strong and supportive of each other. The breadth of products and offerings by HP make HP strong and resilient..

    Cons

HP is in the process of moving into the services space, but do not understand the difference in how value is generated in the services space. People are the revenue stream for services, not something that can be decimated (in the truest sense of the word).

    Advice to Management

Look at what will actual cause a sticky relationship with the clients over the long term. View the sale as more than a transaction, but an actual relationship that needs to be supported by skilled personnel. Also focus on the research space for items that are sticky, not just products.

    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

    1. A great history of innovation. 2. Some of the best minds in technology can be found within HP Labs. 3. Somewhat buffered from machinations of broader HP corporate culture.

    Cons

Part of HP, where cost contaiment activities have been taken to counterproductive levels which stifle innovation and creativitiy.

    Advice to Management

Please understand the amount of mental energy it takes to remain in compliance with the ever-burgeoning roll of policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards that have been implemented in the past 5 years. "Fear of non-compliance" has replaced "desire to create products that thrill customers and succeed in the market" as the primary motivator for many employees. Please recognize the hidden costs you have built into the organization by forcing layer upon layer of review for even the smallest of purchases.
