Pros

Large corporation, in theory many possibilities to collaborate and work on a variety of topics. Generally you end up doing what you are most capable of and can move around with some degree of flexibility.

Cons

In practice a lot of the cons are more exceptions than the rule. People are put where they are needed, not necessarily respecting what they would like to work on. Promotions even in the technical career path are rarely mean you can do more research, instead they often come with more management responsibility.

Advice to Management

There are some amazing engineers working with/for the company. If their personal wellbeing was more of a concern to management, the productivity and level of innovation overall would increase plus people would be happy.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

-direct management and coworkers are easy to get along with
-never had trouble getting time off when I needed it
-work at a customer site so can sometimes forget that I work for HP

    Cons

-no promotions/raises (pay cuts already and more on the horizon)
-no training offered except web based
    -no insight into career opportunities
    -deceptive senior management
    -intense focus on cost cutting
-lack of focus on quality work, except when financial penalties come into play
    -self-service everything
-poor morale due to all of the above

    Advice to Management

Hopefully the new CEO of HP will initiate some positive changes (after all, they claim that he values the people behind a company). In the meantime, I'm still looking for another job. Big Deal Formation is a laughable buzzterm.

    Pros

Nice culture. Got to know and learn a lot. Friendly nad helpful colleagues, easily approachable. Flexible timings. Overall nice to begin.

    Cons

Like a typical software service company, not many pretty faces. Should hire some more girls and bridge the gender disparity.

    Advice to Management

HP is a fairly large company, so everyone would be having different thoughts about this. Its ok. they are doing pretty decent.
