Pros

There is a wide variety of different technologies that we are able to use and experience that help us to expand our knowledge in the IT industry. There are many extremely knowledgeable people employed by HP that are excellent resources and give a definite advantage to the clients.

Cons

Salaries are not fairly handled when an existing company is acquired by HP. Many employees of 20+ years had their salaries cut in half after the EDS acquisition. A large number of people are currently paid at least 20% below the current market salary for their jobs.

Advice to Management

Taking care of the employees should be top priority. When employees are happy, they are productive. If you want to pull the company out of a recession, you have to pay the employees what they are worth.

    Pros

Benefits package is great for now.

    Cons

No raises, no promotional pay increases and virtually no rewards makes it extremely difficult to motivate or keep top talent. Ratings of employees should not be done with a bell curve style. If an entire team is doing a great job there is no reason to give one member a low rating just because it fits a quota.

    Advice to Management

The employees have been giving their honest feedback for years about compensation yet that discussion is always swept under the carpet. Its time to hear what your people are saying and take positive, responsible action.

    Pros

Excellent work life balance. Good respect and camaraderie at work between employees.

    Cons

Unmotivated boring management that takes decisions on reaction of market and has no vision. Employees treated as resource that can be manhandled to save money. Shrinking pay, benefits, office space......

    Advice to Management

How should an employee be motivated to contribute if he is told that innovation happens outside and buying companies get HP that innovation?
