I have been working at Hilton as an intern

Pros

Hilton's culture is very laid back. The people there are willing to help if you want it and they have opportunities around every corner - you just have to make sure you get there. Hilton is the best of them all and they uphold that standard when thinking about their employees. I felt taken care of and appreciated throughout the duration of my internship this summer at the headquarters in McLean, Va.

Cons

The employee hotel rates could be improved.

Advice to Management

I would suggest to accept more than 3 MDP candidates from universities for interview weekend if you feel they are qualified. 4 students from "university A" may be more qualified than students from "university B." In-turn, only 2 students are selected from "university B" to attend interview weekend.

I worked at Hilton full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They put a lot of emphasis on employee morale and care a lot about the overall impression of the hotels that are in the portfolio.

    Cons

There are not many, they are very strict when it comes to inspections and staying within the guidelines set per brand, I wouldn;t really call this a con though.

    Advice to Management

Keep the employee morale up and people will want to work harder for you, this is a great lesson to live by.

I worked at Hilton full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Reduced rates if staying in a Hilton affiliated hotel

    Cons

Completely understaffed to the point where they would force employees to work until 2 or 3 A.M on a night shift and still schedule them for a 5 A.M shift a whole 3 hours later.

    High turnover rate

    Advice to Management

Hire enough employees so you don't have to frequently schedule essentially 20 hour work days.
