Pros

Some of the best reaons to work at the Hilton Sacramento is the Career opporunities when you work at the Hilton you can advance onto bigger and better work positions for Shift leader, to a manager to a supervisor then to a director

Cons

Occasionally there is poor communication between the Managers and the staff. Also you get all kinds of recognition when you do something wrong but when you do something right it seems like knowone notices

Advice to Management

I would give the senior managment the advice to analyze situations more throughly before they jump to a careless conclusion

    Pros

If someone does not have a higher education, with a lot of hard work, anyone is able to become management. However, while you are working your way up, the company will take advantage of you.

    Cons

Low pay for management team compared to local competition. Upper Management does not promote "team" spirit. There is a lack of making employees feel as the are important to the company. Even the HR Director has made the comment that if an employee does not like policy, then they can work somewhere else.
The work/life balance is nonexistant. Upper management rather run the current employees into the ground before hiring additional staff.

    Advice to Management

Adopt the mission that if upper management makes employees happy with salary and work/life balance they in turn will make the hotel guests happy

    Pros

I am proud of the name and I enjoy travel opportunities. Hilton is in the leading edge of hospitality technology. If your primary goal of your job is to learn new technologies you would do well here.

    Cons

It is still a good old boy corporation with only a few (well publicized) exceptions. Those who can spin and say yes without any resistance are recognized as successful and those who point out the risks and try to mitigate them are seen as non-team players. Expectation management is impossible and if you want life balance, you will not find it in Hilton’s IT department.

    Advice to Management

Keep the technology simple to use and understand. Spend more time on training the staff on what tools they have at their disposal instead of re-engineering the wheel. Respect and value your IT staff instead of patting your self on the back for what they have created under your tutelage.
