Pros

The Culture, The Core Hitachi Spirit. Part of a Japanese long term company. Thinks and Behaves in a long term view with huge empahsis placed on the partnership with employees and customers. Very flexible and friendly. Flat structure. Its like a Family. The CEO and Leadership team are very accessible.

Cons

Sometimes a little slow to move

Advice to Management

Speculate to accumulate with Pace

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

Great colleagues with willingness to share knowledge and go extra mile to help you out when company process fails you.
Great products, some of the best, most innovative products in the industry.

    Cons

Incompetent management, clueless decision making and naive immature organisational process making.
Too much CV building going on at management level with mo foresight or experience applied to structural changes.
Smoke and mirrors approach to Support, massively understaffed, undertrained and massively overworked.
No concern over work life balance
Budget issues for basic training and equipment but not same barriers for management
A extremely FAT middle management and Director layered organisation with an incompetence so high it effects company stability.
Preach but nowhere near follow the Hitachi spirit

    Advice to Management

Stop advertising how great HDS is as a place to work when your attitude to employees and the treatment of entire departments is polar opposite to the public face you feign
Have the courage to be fair without trampling employees and to be honest.

More than that stop making changes for the sake of change

I have been working at Hitachi Data Systems full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

HDS is punctual at paying salaries and looks good on a CV.

If you are in the right role (sales, HR) or location (Santa Clara, Krakow) you are very well looked after.

    Cons

If you aren't in the right role or location you are treated as a cost to the company which they are continually looking to trim, benefits have been cut regularly over the last few years.

Pay does not keep up with inflation, you tend to need to change roles if you want a pay rise.

Limited to no scope for promotion or career development in certain locations, HDS can be a place where you go to see your skills decay.

If you enjoy a Christmas party, don't come here - it's been more than 5 years since the company held one in the UK.

    Advice to Management

The company needs to start "walking the walk" rather than just "talking the talk". Many staff members do not feel valued and there is a sense in certain teams (IT, GSS) that the company is trying to attrition staff away from the company. There is also a perception that the company is more interested in attracting new staff than putting in any effort to retain existing employees.

To fix the current problems requires the company to work to get pay & benefits to a level comparable to when employees joined the company, provide scope for people to develop in their career and display through their actions rather than just words that employees are valued.
