I have been working at Holiday Retirement full-time (More than a year)

Pros

HQ is located in new building in a upscale area

Cons

Abnormal high employee turnover, large work loads, and everything is a crisis. Poor onboarding policies, cold and sterile environment. High sales pressures.

Advice to Management

Reward excellent employees. Get down in the trenches and see what's really needed to build out the 5th largest independent living company in the US. Set reasonable expectations and provide the training and resources to those who work hard for you.

    Pros

Great Training, and it's nice to have all of your bills covered (along with the tiny apartment) while you are working for them.

    Cons

Management Lies, Does not want you to become friends or emotionally involved in anyway with your community members, Lead Managers create a brick wall between you and any problem which may arrise, Lead managers prevent you from speaking to upper management and place blame on co-s. Holiday does not provide follow up to those who have been terminated to understand the reasoning behind it. Holiday does not care about it's employees, or those they serve. Holiday works you 70-80 hours a week (far below the minimum wage for your salary). Holiday is only motivated by money and takes advantage of senior's veterans benefits. You are led to believe you are going to serve people, but they only want you in the office making calls, or throwing fake parties so you can show your community how "GREAT" everything is for an hour or two.

    Advice to Management

Don't invest in the stock when it goes public. This company will be bankrupt once word and ethics get around. This company needs to let it's managers be more involved with the residents they serve. CSL's and Management need a bridge to work together.

I have been working at Holiday Retirement full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Love the reward when dealing with residents, families and employees. Everyone focused on making lives of Seniors better! A great community that is focused on the Resident. The Company does a great job maintaining the buildings. Teamwork is critical, as long as each works together to the common goal. Sales are fun. Functions are divided equally as long as each other carries their weight. It is for someone who has a drive to succeed

    Cons

A difficult job, however still fun. Serving anyone who is living is longer than a 9-5 job. The Company does a great job in setting proper staffing in the Community. People who are lazy will not be successful.

    Advice to Management

Stay the course. Encourage those that express how much they enjoy their job to report on the blog. The Company is getting a bad name because of some bad hires. There are many people like myself who enjoy working here, however we aren't speaking to the good things. As the saying goes, those that don't like something are first to tell others........most cases they are the problem for not liking it. I know there are many people in my Region that really enjoy the work they do. Bad people have bad experiences, however scaring good people away! Nothing is perfect, however you are doing the right thing by being more selective in hiring. Many who aren't successful shouldn't have been selected to be hired to begin with.
