Pros

Job is fairly easy once you get it, hours are decent, and benefits for full-timers are good. Also, not having to work Easter, or Christmas was nice as the store was closed.

Cons

Getting promoted is a lengthy process, the full time staff in most locations hold on to their position for dear life. Management does not do a good job of following up with people who don't do their job well or don't follow rules but will punish those who constantly do well in an effort to "make an example". Also the fact that full time employees are required to have open availability is ridiculous mostly because you're only giving a minimum of 30 hours and it barely goes up from there. If they need to be flexible the company should at least give 40 hours clean.

Advice to Management

Management should really consider promoting store management from within instead of hiring from other companies. Theres too many different styles of management all over the stores it makes it very confusing for associates to work and creates huge communication issues.

I worked at HomeGoods part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Clear idea of job duties, diverse coworkers. Not much else to say.

    Cons

Very bad and abusive management, poor training, hard to receive benefits, poor scheduling. GM was intimidating, making it difficult to discuss issues or concerns and even ask simple questions. Discounts were too low. Constant pressure to sell credit cards with little to no incentive. Assistant managers always on cell phones during work hours. Too strict on voids as well.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the efforts of your employees. Stop acting haughty just because you are making around 5 dollars more than your associates. Make the environment more friendly.
