I worked at Honeywell full-time (More than a year)

Pros

A true engineering company. It was fun to spend time with the hardware and be allowed to get your hands dirty.

Cons

Management of human resources was terrible. There was little accountability, so employees that tried very hard and gave it their best were constantly frustrated by unmotivated 'free-loaders'.

Advice to Management

Provide opportunities for your most valued employees and hold poor performers accountable for their actions.

I have been working at Honeywell full-time

    Pros

The work life balance is pretty good compared to many large companies. No one is working 60 hour weeks.

    Cons

Poor teamwork. Lack of trust. Company will not admit that they force approximately 10% of the workforce into "the elbow" The elbow means that you go on a Performance Improvement Plan with the goal that many will either quit or be fired. This is taking a toll on morale throughout the business.

    Advice to Management

It is a "good ole boys" network that runs the plant. Start respecting people for the various talents and ideas they bring to work....even if it's not the way you did things 20 years ago. You are having a difficult time finding and retaining talent, so you need to change how you treat people.

I have been working at Honeywell full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Large company with professional HR, many opportunities for dedicated hard workers.

    Cons

Company sent many good jobs to India. Frequent reduction in force scares. Always wondering if your job was next.

    Advice to Management

Value your local workforce, stop shipping jobs over seas.
