I worked at Honeywell full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Senior management with consistency over time, great acumen for acquisitions, good focus on getting company positioned into markets with growth potential.

Just look at the stock price over last ten years, in good economies and bad ones, and you'll see the values and processes they put in place have worked.

Cons

Sometimes overly centrally controlled, often overly rigorous performance management system that does account for market reality.

Advice to Management

Keep the focus, ensure you keep the people that make the business run. Account for work-life balance with younger employees as a way of keeping them.

I have been working at Honeywell full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with. Interesting products to with. Chances to learn and do different things. Opportunities to Advance. Pay is good (Dependant on position)

    Cons

-Outsourcing produtcion work to poor quality companies instead of in-house to save money, but always have to fix and repair their poor quality work which causes late deliveries to customers.
-HR is useless, they have no clue and never there. Don't care about the people and only to protect the company from lawsuits etc. Rather keep the under performing employees who hurt the company. Doesn't Hold people accountable for actions.
-No raises in 2 years but Management still get bonuses.
-Won't even pay for Holiday meals etc
-Hold it against you for not working overtime and try to make it mandatory.
-Morale is low, always talk about the bad and never the good. Make you feel worthless
    -Interoffice fighting and bickering.
-Production/Process Engineering have no expierance and no clue. Operators always have to tell them what to do and how to do things.
-HOS (Honeywell Operating system) is useless. To much focus on Numbers, Metrics and Tier boards. Not on Quality. Changes all the time from one day to the next.
-Management have no expierance and are never around, always in meetings
-Outdated test equipment that always breaks doesn't want to spend money to fix or upgrade but will spend money on waxing floors and making new benches for HOS so everything matches and is pretty.

    Advice to Management

    - Actually come to the shop floors and been seen. Listen to the operators. Don't take the words of supervisors etc, they will change the perceptions to make them look good. Also learn and understand the processes of the shop floor.
    - Reward the hard workers, the ones that go the extra mile and actually care about what they do.
    - Fix and update the test equipment, get more equipmet.. Spend some money if you want more product out and not over work the people on the floor.
    - Be leaders and listen, fix the problems. You can then make yourself look good and get bigger bonuses while the "little people" still get no respect.
