Pros
I think that working from home has a lot of advantages. Even though my days are usually full, I like that I have the option to take time off and that there is a focus on balancing work and personal life. Most of my tasks are routine, but I have the opportunity to develop my skills and learn about marketing tools from experienced colleagues. When I feel stressed, I can take a break and come back with a clear mind–no judgment. I'm not sure if my experience reflects every team at HMH, but so far it's been pretty positive. The company is growing rapidly, but it's been great for them to acquire some really respected organizations in the education world.
Cons
I would like to see more racial/gender diversity in leadership. There should definitely be more people of color in all departments. HMH has made some progress in this area, but the edtech world demands more inclusivity!

Pros
*Salary *Insurance *Co-workers *Navigating the business *Problem-solving *Bringing value to the business/Bringing value to the market *Helping kids learn
Cons
*HMH did a fair job communicating once close date passed with newly acquired NWEA (where I originated from), but NWEA CEO read the tea leaves wrong at the beginning and this set in motion a series of misunderstandings and disappointments *HMH did not seem to understand NWEA psychology, or decided not to worry about it, but NWEA people put a lot of stock in working for a non-profit with a mission. The reality is, non-profit status is just a tax status, and that status does not make any company a more do-good organization than a for-profit. I'd argue that NWEA was often inefficient and wasteful, and often had too many goals which made some of them unattainable. *HMH so far feels like a cold place to work. You definitely feel like a number here. You can foresee business decisions that could be made and how your role could be seen as redundant eventually. And there's a wall between NWEA and HMH. It's not open lines of communication here. By the way, NWEA had its cons too. It was not all sunshine and rainbows.
