I have been working at Humana full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Benefits and salary are better than what you will get from most other companies; no matter what your role is.

There are plenty of challenges to overcome and problems to solve when it comes to marketing and IT.

If you end up on the right team, you will have a boss that truly does care about your well-being and promoting a fair work-life balance.

There are plenty of opportunities available to grow professionally within the company.

Cons

Mostly because it is the health insurance industry, many times bureaucracy and process will get in the way and cause tasks to take longer to accomplish.

If you end up on the wrong team, you will be miserable.

I have been working at Humana full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay is decent, but the insurance is awful. I have Humana insurance through my husband's employer because Humana's employee insurance is horrible.

    Cons

The place is a mess, and I don't know how they stay in business. It's awful for the Humana members too because they spend all day being passed from one department to the next because of the lack of training. They treat their employees like cattle and they have the audacity to say that they're all about well-being and work/life balance. Yeah right!! The overtime they expect their employees to work is outrageous, and as a result employees only work work work without having time for their family. If you love overtime then come to Humana, but I bet you won't love it for long. Try 3 hours of overtime 5 days a week and see how much you love it.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating your employees like cattle!!!! We are people too. Stop wasting money paying for overtime, and figure out how to become more efficient. Maybe if you treat people better then you could keep the employees you have and finally close the revolving door. The place is a mess because nobody with good sense stays. They "half" train their employees and then throw them to the wolves with 3 hours overtime right from the start. Don't waste your time because it's the worst company ever!!!!

I worked at Humana as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Compensation because nothing else matters there except the cafeteria sometimes.

    Cons

The disrespect from team leads and staff, the lies, the stress you put up with. Open door policy is an open door lie and the upper management just does not care. They say they are all about being a big family to their associates and that is a crock. Does family get fired and treated wrong? The benefits suck literally. Why on earth would you be on a hiring freeze but hire through temp services? Why would you hire temps only to at the same time hire permanents for other departments and why would you not hire from within starting with the temps? It just makes no logical sense. If the team lead does not like you they will get rid of you and management will let them. With a turn over rate so high, it can not be everyone else

    Advice to Management

Step it up this is ridiculous, the turn over rate is massive and I have seen associates who were employed anywhere from 9-22 years get let go because they started making too much from being there so long. Open door policy needs to mean that you will get results out of a situation. Management needs to meet and socialize with their associates. Have to do better. The hiring process should not take months and hearing back from recruitment should not be so hectic. Just because you get let go from one department does not mean you should not be able to return. Why on earth would you be on a hiring freeze but hire through temp services? Why would you hire temps only to at the same time hire permanents for other departments and why would you not hire from within starting with the temps? It just makes no logical sense.
