I worked at Hunter Straker full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There are some genuinely great people working for this company but unfortunately those people do not exist within the upper ranks. A good place to cut your teeth in the agency world and move on.

    Cons

This company was once known as Matchpoint Marketing, then it became Promo Depot-Matchpoint, then it was Acosta Marketing Group and now it is Hunter-Straker. As a subsidiary of Acosta they can afford to ruin their reputation over and over again and then just buy another company to temporarily assume their identity until that one is ruined also. The top levels of leadership change year after year and they sell their...

    Advice to Management

You can only cycle through so many re-brandings before the industry will start to take notice and you can bet that they already have.

I have been working at Hunter Straker

    Pros

Upper management has worked extraordinarily hard to turn this agency around... and it really is starting to show. There were some individuals here that were not pulling their weight--but they are gone now. The agency has been streamlined and is now ready to be profitable and grow. The creative team has also been rebuilt and everyone is happy and motivated. There are some very talented people in that group. Good processes...

    Cons

The agency has had some "bad press" in the past... but they are moving beyond that with very real and positive changes.

    Advice to Management

Keep all this great momentum going!

I have been working at Hunter Straker full-time

    Pros

Connection with Acosta offers a huge advantage vs other shopper agencies in regard to access to data and ability to work with retailers - unfortunately otherwise issues offset this.

    Cons

Primarily Canadian leadership team with no business connections in or real understanding of US market. None of them seem to have had any experience running an agency and are constantly scrambling to protect their own high paying jobs while the staff below them continues to shrink. They continually throw out (the same) examples of 2 or 3 programs that ran in Canada years ago as "best in class" and don't seem to have any...
