Positive Outlook

I have been working at Huntwood full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Working here is great. Hunt is a fast paced place to work and if your thing is spending the day at the water cooler then you might not like it here. Not because someone will tell you to get back to work but because you are surrounded by people who really love their work and take pride in it. It is rare to see anyone wasting time. It is a good sign of being engaged in your work.

There is a genuine care for the wellbeing of those who work here by the Hunt Family. As you get to know them more and more, you see that they are people with a solid base of fairness and equity and giving people the benefit of the doubt

Cons

Depending on where you work, the schedules are different but I find the 7am to 5pm a bit long some days. But this is very minor as I usually ended up at work that long at my previous careers anyway.

Advice to Management

Keep up the good work.

Become the premier employer of choice in the entire area by considering cool perks that are low cost for example.
a) keeping the 7-5 schedule but give Friday's early leave of 2pm
b) stat holidays are killers on labor costs so I wouldn't recommend observing more than you do but perhaps consider a few revolving paid days off. That way folks can still get a couple more paid days off but you don't have to pay double time for those working like you would for a stat.
c) with the huge purchasing power that Hunt Carries, negotiate with vendors (lumber sales, protective clothing, computer sales, etc.) to get employee discounts at their stores

    Positive Outlook

I worked at Huntwood full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

New facility, beautiful product, reasonable compensation

    Cons

Departments are often adversarial, as opposed to symbiotic. Ordering software is frustrating at times.

    Advice to Management

Search for and eliminate the reasons (systems, personnel, etc) departments don't support each other and are adversarial. In all system updates remember to focus on the input methods; while its critical that the orders come in in a way that can be sent to manufacturing, if it is a pain to use then designers will be disinclined to use your product as a go-to.
