Pros

It's very hard to get fired, they hired often and a lot of people.

Cons

Loooow hours. It seemed like the more you stood around and talked the more promotions you got.

Advice to Management

Watch who get promoted better

    Pros

gas discount. that is the only good thing i feel towards hy-vee at this point. and i do like being able to buy the damaged items at a discounted price.

    Cons

unless you're in management, or a friend of management, you are made to feel very small and insignificant. i have been embarrassed in front of customers for mistakes i've made, or for things that were not my fault. i've been reminded of the dress code while others wear what they please. among other things.while others are visiting at their friends registers i have been given cleaning jobs. our store is very cliquish. if you're not in the clique then you don't exist. and most members of management are part of the clique. i am being scheduled past what i put down for my availability.

    Advice to Management

take a look at your management. our store has a lot of younger people who get swolen heads because they're in positions of power. young and cool does not always mean good!

    Pros

flexible time off when requested, although expect to work weekends
    some co workers were cool
good bonus for full time if your store director isnt an idiot

    Cons

    where do i begin...

it seems as if they protect those that will never leave the company because even if they suck at work or life in general hyvee wants longevity.

management is often times incompetent and cares more about "drinking the koolaid" and kissing ass than they do about how hard you work.

special benefits are given to those that cry and complain, not those who work hard and do a good job.

    long days, crap pay.

recently took away sunday and holliday pay which was an extra dollar an hour more, even mc donalds offers holliday premium

becoming more of a socialist company, not rewarding those who work harder than others with incentives.

    Advice to Management

dont take away incentives for employees, your line of work isnt pleasant already why make it worse. you should make it so employees want to come to work.
