Large company with many departments to explore or cross train if desired

Cons

Senior level advancement is a very, very long process.

I worked at Hyatt full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Management is great and works with employees to create a great working atmosphere. You get a lot of experience in different departments; no need to stand in one place all day. Discount hotel rooms are nice too!

    Cons

The hours can be tough: either 7am to 3pm, or 3pm to 11pm shifts. It is a fast paced work environment -- no time to sit down!

    Advice to Management

My only advice would be to act more consistently when enforcing standards.

I worked at Hyatt full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

At that time... Hyatt was in transition to public company. High demand no life balance but was promoted rapidly.

    Cons

Culture of company at that time was every man for himself. My Chef was in process of being pressured out and he cracked...on me. This ended my career with Hyatt unfortunately.

    Advice to Management

Stop with the central control of culinary style from Chicago by an unaccomplished beatnik gourmand calling herself a chef, and stop implementing / injecting weird counter culture products and mindsets and odd personal affinities for what amounts to Pinterest fads and trends into the professional culinary hospitality culture of the great Hyatt Hotel company before you destroy the culinary prowess of the company. You hire chefs to innovate and implement... let them do what they do and hold them accountable. Kind of like a business... hmmmm, now where have I heard that before? Oh yeah... business 101
