Disapproves of CEO

Pros

Excellent Product lines and engineering skills,

Cons

Focus too much on stockholders and executive bonus based on stock value and profit versus customer's requirements and satisfaction. Not enough people in the field. Too many managers tracking numbers instead of helping their employees.

Advice to Management

Focus less on IBM Stockholders and change current IBM Executive compensation plan to focus more on software development and customer satisfaction instead of IBM Stock value and profit. Hire more people to work directly with customers instead of hiring team leaders or manager to track business numbers instead of helping their employees.

    -good job security

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

    Amazing spread of technology.
    Very Open workculture
No racial/gender bias. Always stress on maintaining this work atmosphere.
Big name clients, high exposure projects, for development projects

    Cons

There is some political atmosphere in application support projects. But thats common in other places I've worked too
Again in very large support engagements, quite a few people who are staffed have no idea what they should be doing, and manage to leverage work done by others. And not surprisingly, same sorts indulge in the politics/gossip/ass kissing and favoritism in turn.If it were a high effort work these sorts would have been weeded out, but unfortunately that is not, and you have to learn to work with them if you're coming from a good development background.
Really big org, if you hide under a rock no one will come looking for you, and you'll be at same place if you choose to hide. How this translates into overall competency is anyone's guess.

    Advice to Management

The trend is competent people are often the ones switching jobs. The PD cycle is bull**** sometimes.
