Pros

IBM is a globally acknowledged information technology business, that possesses many opportunities for career growth. It holds a great reputation around the world, and continues to innovate- not only for the company but as well as the rest of the world. IBM prides itself on a dedication to every client's success, as well as holding trust and responsibilities in all relationships with partners and fellow employees within the workplace.

Cons

There is a considerable amount of competition between fellow employees when trying to apply for different internal positions or when making your way up the "corporate ladder", primarily due to the amount of employees IBM have.

Advice to Management

To keep up the constant feedback between managers and the people they employee. Feedback is essential and every employee must know if they are meeting the expectations that managers have of their role.

    Pros

It´s a great IT company, the biggest one. You can have access to the ultimate level of research and technology.

    Cons

There is a huge lack between the company speech and each department leadership speech. Some departments don´t provide transparent information about the work, the milestones, the forecast. When you get there, you feel unsupported, and if you try to escalate the problem, you are pressed to quit the idea.

    Advice to Management

Please, check your managers, mainly the people managers. They aren't dealing fairly with their employees.

    Pros

It is a huge company. You can find opportunities on any area, so whatever you like to do, they need it. It may take a while for you to arrange a work position exactly as you want, but this is up to you to show results and find your way inside the company. Don't expect things to come to you: go ahead and open your our doors.
One of the best things about IBM is that it has sites everywhere. You can work on the closest office or even at home.
I disagree with people who says here that IBM does not pay overtime hours. They do, if you really needs to work overtime. Most people try to earn more money by just working extra hours and than blame IBM cause it does not want to pay for those extras. If they need it, they will ask you to work and will pay you.

    Cons

Well.. it is a huge company :-)
You have to open your ours doors. Nobody will adopt you there.
IBM tries to to everything on IT and sometimes there are no focus. One day they have Network Support Services and the other day they sell everything to AT&T and start saying the future is Mainframe Services. If you want to stay in the company for a logn time you need to watch it closely and be prepared to change areas as the company changes.

    Advice to Management

Get more managers! You are a huge company, and it is impossible for a single manager to known and manage 300 employees.
