I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

work at home options are great, pay is adequate if outside major employment cities, benefits and 401k matching are great if employed pre 2000. Historically the severance packages are not too bad, so if you are let go and have been long time employee that may be worth sticking around for if you have options later.

    Cons

2015 road map for EPS means they will keep cutting costs which has the temporary benefit of increased profits even while revenue is decreasing. As a result it's a cycle of people being RA'ed (laid off) or leaving, while those remaining are overworked and ready to leave at a moments notice. Eventually this will catch up with IBM, but in the mean time employees and services/products are suffering. Raises even for excellent performers don't keep up with inflation.

    Advice to Management

Remember when you used to value employees and they weren't just "resources"? It may be too late to turn the ship, but shouldn't you at least try?
