Pros

Good to have IBM on resume, some opportunities still exist

Cons

Becoming a burn and churn company. Has become a company run by accountants; use to believe in respect for the individual; no more.

Advice to Management

Realize the people are your best resource.

I have been working at IBM (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Diverse and world-wide services and technology set that is unmatched by competition.

    Cons

Overly driven by the bottom line at the expense of the real business purpose and promise of technology.

    Advice to Management

Prioritize client satisfaction over stock price. One feeds the other, not vice-versa.

I worked at IBM part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Strong company strategy and a real chance to succeed in the market. Lots of tools and IP available. Flexible benefits. Good company culture. Global reach.

    Cons

Complex processes. Company is very good in squeezing the most out of its employees making work-life integration (I guess they gave up on the term "balance") a challenge. You need a strong sponsor to move up as the complex matrix structure provides potentially too many stakeholders to roles. Negotiate for the highest salary possible when you come in as good incremental increases and promotions will be difficult to come by. Many jobs being shipped overseas.

    Advice to Management

Need more parity between outside hires who get the incumbent employees. Better career development and compensation needed.
