No opinion of CEO

Pros

Exposure to a global workforce environment, the ability to have many careers within one company, the ability to work and learn from a lot of smart people

Cons

the higher you go in your career, the more time you spend on internal process and procedure.
Process and procedure sometimes prevents you from being able to perform at a level that will gain you the recognition you need for advancement, job functions can be very siloed and sometimes makes it difficult to work across functions as not everyone sees the big picture

Advice to Management

Less internal reporting and better communication from marketing leadership.

    Pros

Smart people, good experience overall provided you work hard and get yourself a good role on the project. There is a lot of scope for enhancing your technical skills especially in the Application Information Services practice area.

    Cons

Some projects are large - do not necessarily have a great work culture. You might end up feeling lost or may not get a role of your choice in such situations. Raises are not good enough. An experienced person ends up making the same as a new hire after couple of years of working at IBM. This is one of the main causes why IBM would suffer from low retention rates especially in their experienced band 6-7 resources.

    Advice to Management

Management must pay serious attention to compensation offered to

    Pros

I enjoyed my time at IBM. Good employer over all, reorgs were a constant but generally they did seek employee input.

    Cons

Big company bueracracy is the name of the game.

    Advice to Management

In some cases, lip service is paid to the employee feedback process. Don't fully appreciate the offshoring of jobs that is going on in the company. It has made things harder to accomplish as a whole. This is no longer the blue chip employer they once were. Now the dollar or not spending a dollar is king. This thinking will ultimately lead to the demise of the company or to viewing the company in terms of a commodity provider.
