No opinion of CEO

Pros

they have their challenges but are looking for ways to improve and they have something good with the cloud initiatives

Cons

a lot of people jockeying for just a few jobs and it's easy to get complacent. a complete matrix organization

Advice to Management

earnings are now the most important thing, so please just say that instead of creating new values for the company.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Name recognition, access to a ton of free Computer Based Training to improve skills (for your next job), good medical benefits for employee (expensive for family)

    Cons

Utilization targets to meet minimum review ratings require all PTO, holidays, and all other non-billable time to be made up with overtime. Endless layoffs of Americans to ship jobs overseas. Heavy time demand as you work full time at customer site plus any OT they will allow, plus 5 hours a week to follow IBM documentation processes. You may never physically meet the manger responsible for you reviews, only your project manager. High turnover in recent years.

    Advice to Management

IBM needs to be more strategic in what it offshores. Cutting seasoned employees for very high turnover offshore resources causes project delays, customer dissatisfaction, SLA financial penalties, etc.

"Great tech, even greater bureaucracy. Great place to camp on a good salary as long as you don't get bored or layed off."

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

The best reason to work there: you get into a group working on cutting edge tech and/or learning from SME managers that can mentor.

    Cons

Crusty middle management camping out until they retire. Great ideas get squashed every day. The best ideas escape and start life as competitors.

    Advice to Management

Become cannibals. Start eating your crusty business units to make room for truly innovative, market defining offerings. Get rid of a few layers of middle management (ha! like that will ever happen).
