I worked at IBM full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Excellent salary and benefits
Good employee perks
Up-to-date technology, if you can get to it

Cons

Work/life balance: 90% work, 10% life
If you do an extraordinary job this year, that will be your expected performance next year. You are never good enough.
The US work force gets smaller every year, and the workload increases every year.
There's a lot of emphasis on getting training, but never time to get away from your work long enough to actually get it. Which counts as a failure, come annual review.

Advice to Management

You cannot increase the workload and shrink the workforce indefinitely.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good compensation, health care, and vacation policy

    Cons

At least in the US, focus is completely on making the stock price go up which means perks are gone, morale is low, and people are leaving or getting laid off. And you're still expected to do just as much work with fewer people.

    Advice to Management

Realize that investing in employees is also an investment in the company

  2. "Massive, but supportive"

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Unparalleled levels of connections, information, and knowledge available for consumption. Large number of highly intelligent workers.

    Cons

Easy to lose individuality and stand out in a crowd, and for that reason, is a relatively difficult place to move up a career ladder. As a corporation, many work niches are forgotten and can be left behind to play catch up when it is too late.

    Advice to Management

Ease up on the red tape, and try a little flexibility.
