I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There is a wealth of knowledge at IBM, and you can learn about any aspect of business there.

    Cons

There are very long hours and the pay scale does not increase greatly. Promotions are hard to come by and vertical movement is rare, with a lot of horizontal movement. There are low raises and low bonuses.

  2. "Practically begging experienced engineers to quit so they can be replaced with young, cheaper new hires."

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

A few years look good on the resume.
Opportunity to advance career by spending a couple years in a developing country.

    Cons

Unlike a few years ago, few options to move to a different, growing area.
    No retraining, or any training.
    Benefits reduced every year.

    Advice to Management

    Stop pandering to Wall Street.
Revive company value that considers employees an asset.
