Pros

Great place to work if you get matched up with the right management.
Competitive salary--not top of the market by any means, but the benefits package is great.

Cons

Too many managers lack any management or leadership qualities. They may great consultants, engineers, or accountants, but that doesn't mean they'l make even adequate managers.

Advice to Management

Invest more within the company.

I have been working at IBM full-time

    Pros

Talented engineers. Opportunity to work and travel globally. Diverse career choices, you won't be bored.

    Cons

Outdated processes that many just follow blindly just because "that is how we've done it for x number of years.". Too many management layers that moved around often, which caused lack of accountability and massive overhead for reeducating new people every year. Performance review kills innovation as the ranking quota is dictated.

    Advice to Management

Up to the first vp level (from the bottom), the org is generally very lean. Between this and the highest GM, most could go away.

  2. "IBM is great place to work for people that are self-driven."

I worked at IBM as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Friendly people who are willing to help you with concerns you might have. Very flexible as I was allowed to come into work at either 7, 8, or 9 a.m. as long as I worked an 8 hour shift. It's up to you to take initiative to make things happen.

    Cons

Having too many projects at one time is stressful. They emphasize networking will help your career; but the networking aspect takes away from the job duties.

    Advice to Management

Have better structure in place before initializing a project.
