Pros

Brand name recognition for your next job, for which you should begin prepping for as soon as you enter. You can feel good about contributing to the executive compensation.

Cons

All non-executives have their salary capped at 10% below industry average. The yearly rating system has a mandate of putting 10% of the employees in the "improve or be let go" bucket, applied at all levels, and within all groups. There is a very depressed vibe, company wide.

    Pros

Great talent, greatest colleagues all working on great technologies.

    Cons

Almost yearly resource actions , which are really US job transfers to cheaper countries in disguise, are making IBM an increasingly more stressful and less desirable place to work.

  2. "Opportunity to work with some of the most accomplished people in industry, good work-life balance"

I have been working at IBM full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Competitive compensation
    Flexible hours, depending
Brilliant coworkers, some of the best in their field
Poughkeepsie is a great place to live

    Cons

Regular layoffs, lack of job security due to restructuring
Cutting small office perks like coffee

    Advice to Management

Don't cut benefits like sponsoring further education back. It will hinder efforts to keep recruiting the best candidates. Consider employee quality of life before making cuts; it's not just a numbers game.
