I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

IBM does provide opportunities to learn, either on the job or through their online offerings.

Cons

Employees are NOT valued.
Pay raises are non-existent for most. Promotions are nearly non-existent too.
People management skills are very poor. When management doesn't know what else to do they blame the employees, start a new micro-management scheme and lay off everyone they can.
Customer service is very poor. IBM would rather pay a penalty to be released from a contract than to fulfill the contract.
IBM is using under-handed and dishonest means to avoid the customer requirements of on-shore business.

Advice to Management

Treat your employees like people, not things. The rumors are constant and the fear of losing your job never ends.

    Approves of CEO

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Doesn't get more cutting edge than this. Very deep technical depth to the team. Very large network of opportunities across a large corporate employee base. Good support for staying connected while mobile/out of the office. Very good opportunities to work with non-IBM business partners in technology development collaboration.

    Cons

You better have a thick skin, arrogance and type A personalities are frequently encountered. Crowded middle/exec management levels make progression to these levels difficult.

    Advice to Management

Need to 'thin the herd' some more at middle management & 1st level Execs to make more opportunities for those stuck just below this 'glass ceiling' level.
