Approves of CEO

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Global company with interesting consulting opportunities when you can get yourself aligned to participate and are willing to travel. Very focused on client success. Strong project management acumen. Ability to work from home when appropriate. Lots of training is available - most online / webinar. Lots of internal tools to connect and leverage social technology solutions.

Cons

At this time, multiple resource actions together with an aggressive change agenda has created a nervous culture... but I'm still optimistic.

Advice to Management

Change is hard; manage with care.

I worked at IBM as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

People here are relatively laid back, good discussion with colleagues at lunch breaks, facilities are ok but I didn't use much myself, heard there's a gym

    Cons

Not much exciting work going on, some customers have no clue what they are asking for requires very specific expertise not usually possessed by average IT consultants

    Advice to Management

Care more about the types of work given to employees

Former Contractor - Anonymous Contractor in Melbourne (Australia)

I worked at IBM as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Some great individuals mostly in contractor ranks.
The rank and file personnel want to work hard and contribute.

    Cons

Regular high turnover rate for middle management, in difficult times.
Lack of support from senior management.
Lack of understanding by management/leadership exactly what/how needs to be done.
Environment and culture...really too political to be truly productive.

    Advice to Management

Senior Management needs to concentrate on delivering honest value to the customer, instead of focusing solely on revenue.
Promote your competent staff. Look beyond the internal politics and in-fighting.
