I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Work from home. Lots of job options. Leading technology.

Cons

Benefits are expensive. Salaries don't keep up with market. Raises are practically nonexistent. Forced fit ranking system.

Advice to Management

Stop setting unrealistic goals to appease the share holders. Take care of your employees and the employees will take this company far. It's not all about the share price that pumps your executive options.

"IBM does not care about American workers. It is shedding them as fast and as discretely as posssible."

I worked at IBM full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Huge company with HUGE expections to live up to.

    Cons

IBM treats its employees very poorly. Benefits and perks have been stripped away over the last 10 years. Now they will come for your job and your salary. Everyone lives in fear of the layoffs. There are startlingly few resources for such a big company with that much cash on hand. Big new projects don't have the budgets to meet their targets properly. It's only a matter of time before quality becomes a big issue.

    Advice to Management

Come down from the stratosphere and see what you are doing to this great company and the average American worker.

I worked at IBM full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Ability to work from home, good (above average) salary, benefits are great. Ability to travel (in some jobs). People (for the most part) are great

    Cons

Departments are in constant flux, you are constantly stuck in meetings and expected to do one thing giving you no breadth of skills, layoffs/reorganizations on a yearly basis. Work environment is not motivating.

    Advice to Management

It would be nice if management was honest and not fake.
