I worked at ICF full-time

Pros

40 hour work week, excellent compensation package, upward mobility, interesting work, open and transparent upper management

Cons

The culture depends on the manager, and I left when I got a new one who was not qualified. He is still there, successfully managing up (darned Peter Principle). For higher level positions, the bonus structure is top down, not bottom up (every year my team got screwed).

Advice to Management

Try to make more employees shareholders... overhaul the AIP system... it is currently an anti-incentive program.

I have been working at ICF full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

To describe ICF's top leadership, they possess a wonderful, forward-thinking, innovative vision and work hard to provide growth opportunities for junior staff.

    Cons

Be sure to learn about the project you are interviewing for. Middle managers can be extremely territorial and can bog down innovation that comes through with new staff. Lots of process to navigate.

    Advice to Management

You are currently working with Senior VPs to connect with junior level staff, which is the right start. But middle managers need to be brought into the conversation.

I worked at ICF full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There is a lot of flexibility, offering a nice work-life balance

    Cons

The organization is very top-heavy, no mentoring or honing of young talent, pay is low

    Advice to Management

Don't waste your young talent and stop trying to grow too fast.
